Description:

The material 2.4607 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy that has a particularly low concentration of silicon dioxide and carbon and is characterized by high corrosion resistance and good strength.

Due to the extremely low levels of carbon and silica, Alloy 59 does not tend to dissolve grain boundaries when thermoformed or welded. Therefore the alloy can be used in many chemical processes with oxidizing and reducing media. In addition, Alloy 59 is more resistant to chloride ions due to the high concentrations of nickel, chromium and molybdenum.

The corrosion tests described in the relevant standards generally refer to oxidizing conditions in which Alloy 59 has proven to be superior to all other Ni-Cr-Mo alloys. But Alloy 59 is also very resistant to reducing conditions. Accordingly, its boiling corrosion rate from 10% sulfuric acid is less than a third of the attack measured on other introduced Ni-Cr-Mo alloys. Due to this excellent behavior, the alloy has also proven itself in the chemical industry for reducing material applications.

Alloy 59 can be welded with the same types of metal as many other metals using conventional methods.

Properties of the material 2.4607:

• excellent resistance to many aggressive environments under oxidizing and reducing conditions;
• excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion and resistance to stress corrosion cracking;
• excellent resistance to contaminated mineral acids;
• very good machinability and weldability with low susceptibility to hot cracking.
