Description:

The welding area must be cleaned thoroughly, the seam flanks should have a bright metallic shine. Electrode AlSi 5 is easy to weld and decoat. To obtain a dense, pore-free weld, the electrode should preferably be welded in a horizontal position, with a short arc and at high speed. For solid workpieces, preheat the welding area to 150 - 250 °C. A single layer is recommended without layering.

Aluminium electrodes are very sensitive to moisture absorption as their coating contains hygroscopic salts, therefore dry storage is very important.

Please note the permissible operating temperatures for the filler metal and the base metal: AlCuMg 1 (3.1325), AlMgSi 1 (3.2315), AlZn 4.5 Mg 1 (3.4335).

Properties of the material 3.2245:

• low sensitivity to hot cracking
• not recommended for anodising
• good welding properties
