ATTENTION: The wire is either sent on a different spool or wound into a reel. If you require a spool, please contact us - we will send the wire on a spool for an additional charge. The photo shows spools with 2-3 kg of wire.
Description:
Molybdenum is a silver-white, heat-resistant and easily malleable transition metal. Molybdenum has a melting point of 2623 °C and a density of 10.2 g/cm3. This metal and its alloys have a high high-temperature strength, a high modulus of elasticity, good heat resistance and a low coefficient of thermal expansion. Molybdenum is widely used as an additive to steels and alloys to improve their hardenability, strength, toughness, corrosion resistance and hardness. Molybdenum is also used as a heat-resistant construction material.
Molybdenum wires are used as heating elements for electric furnaces, which are operated in a hydrogen atmosphere at temperatures of up to 2000 °C. Molybdenum wire is also frequently used in the radio electronics industry and in X-ray technology for the manufacture of various parts of electronic lamps, X-ray tubes and other vacuum devices.
Properties of molybdenum wire:
- high melting point
- good strength
- mechanical stability at high temperatures
- low thermal expansion
- high heat resistance
Main application of molybdenum wire:
- High temperature heating elements
- shields
- filaments
- rocket engines
- Welding electrodes
