Nichrome (NiCr) is a group of nickel-based alloys with a Ni content of 70-80% and a Cr content of 19-21%.
These alloys are known for their high temperature resistance up to 1250 °C. Nichrome has excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance at high temperatures as well as good wear resistance.
Nichrome wires are resistant to deformation and are characterised by excellent dimensional stability at high temperatures, as they have a higher heat and creep resistance than Kanthal wires. Nichrome has no magnetic properties and can also be used at low temperatures. These wires have good corrosion resistance at room temperature.
Because of its oxidation resistance and stability at high temperatures, nichrome is often used in electrical heating elements such as electric ovens, furnaces and drying ovens, various electrical heating devices, etc.
