Description:

Alloy® 36 is a binary iron-nickel alloy with a particularly low coefficient of thermal expansion, where carbon and manganese contents and freedom from impurities are important. Cold forming also reduces thermal expansion. Artificial aging with gradual heat treatment stabilizes the expansion coefficients in a selected temperature range. The material 1.3990 has minimal fluctuations at cryogenic temperatures, making it ideal for use in precision components.

In a dry atmosphere, the material 1.3990 is corrosion-resistant at a temperature of +20 °C. Under unfavorable conditions, for example in a humid atmosphere, corrosion can occur on the surface
