Austenitic EN 1.4876 stainless steel is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy designed to resist oxidation and carburization at elevated temperatures. The material 1.4876 is very resistant to chlorine stress cracks. Overall corrosion resistance is excellent.
Austenitic stainless steel EN 1.4876 has a high resistance to stress corrosion cracking, although it is not completely resistant. The alloy shows excellent performance in many types of equipment in the petroleum, chemical, food, pulp and paper industries. Therefore, 1.4876 can offer clear advantages in moderately corrosive environments.
Alloy 800 is particularly well suited for high temperature applications such as furnace parts and associated heaters, petrochemical reformers, and superheated steam applications in nuclear and conventional power plants. Due to these high chromium and nickel contents, the alloys have excellent resistance to oxidation, scaling and carburization.
The material 1.4876 can be easily welded using conventional welding processes.
