Description:
Despite its higher yield strength compared to material 1.4301, material 1.4310 can still be punched, formed and profiled well. Annealing colours or scale layers that occur during heat treatment or welding impair the corrosion resistance. They must be removed chemically or mechanically. Due to the tendency to harden and the relatively low thermal conductivity, machining should be carried out using tools made of high-quality tool steels or carbide alloys. Stainless steel 1.4310 is easy to polish.
The material 1.4310 has a strong tendency to work harden and is therefore suitable for the production of parts that require increased mechanical stress.
Stainless steel 1.4310 is widely used as a base material for springs in the food and beverage industry, as the combination of corrosion resistance and high mechanical properties is required in the food industry. The corrosion resistance is good for most beverages and foodstuffs on the market. Due to the low addition of nickel, material 1.4310 is not as resistant as stainless steel 1.4301.
Properties of the material 1.4310:
- Good mechanical properties
- good corrosion resistance
- Very good weldability
- good forgeability
Main application of the material 1.4310:
- Automotive industry
- Mechanical engineering
- Chemical industry
- Electrical components
- Food industry
