The material 1.4306 is acid-resistant stainless steel with the addition of nitrogen, reduced carbon content and increased chromium 18-20% and nickel 10-12%. Otherwise use the improved version of the alloy 1.4307 / AISI 304L. This alloy is used when regular 304 or 304L material is not sufficient and increased corrosion resistance is required.
Due to the low carbon content of 1.4306, there is virtually no tendency for the formation of chromium carbides and the associated chromium depletion zones that form around these precipitates. The resistance to intergranular corrosion is thus far superior to higher carbon grades such as 1.4301.
Alloy 1.4306 is corrosion resistant in most natural waters and in urban and rural atmospheres provided chloride and salinity levels are low. This grade of stainless steel is not seawater resistant and therefore must not be used in seawater applications.
Properties of the material 1.4306:
- high corrosion resistance
- very good forgeability and weldability
- suitable for low temperatures
- usable up to 600°C
Main application of the material 1.4306:
- chemical and petrochemical industry
- oil industry
- food industry
- mechanical engineering
- automotive industry
