Nichrome (NiCr) is a group of nickel-based alloys with a Ni content of 70-80% and a Cr content of 19-21%.

These alloys are known for their high temperature resistance. Nichrome has excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance at high temperatures as well as good wear resistance.

Nichrome wires are resistant to deformation and are characterised by excellent dimensional stability at high temperatures, as they have a higher heat and creep resistance than Kanthal wires.
