Structural steel C75 is a simple spring steel with a high carbon content (up to 0.8%). The additional incorporation of chromium into the structure can increase the metallic hardening capacity. The main advantage of C75 steel is its strength of 640 Rm.
Spring steel sheets made of C75 can be easily deformed before heat treatment. After heat treatment, the strength of the spring steel is between 1400 and 1600 N/mm².
Springback when bending hardened spring steel is considerable and must be taken into account when designing the tools. Punching and cold bending are cold forming processes that can have a detrimental effect on springback. To restore the original elasticity, the workpieces must be tempered at 225 °C for ½ to 1 hour after cold forming.
The maximum operating temperature of spring steel strip 1.1248 should not exceed 200 °C. It should be noted that the values of the modulus of elasticity decrease with increasing temperature.
