The material 1.4301 (304) is the most common and versatile stainless steel worldwide. It has excellent formability and weldability. The austenitic structure of 304 allows deep drawing without intermediate annealing. It is used for various purposes in areas such as architecture and the automotive industry.

The corrosion resistance of stainless steel 1.4301 sheet is very good under normal atmospheric conditions. In hot, acidic environments, the material can form capillary cracks and shrinkage cavities in the internal structure, and when the temperature rises above 60 °C, stress cracks can occur.

Sheet metal strips made of stainless steel 1.4301 have good oxidation resistance in environments where the temperature is continuously 925 °C and rises to 870 °C at times. However, corrosion resistance decreases when the environment is aqueous and the temperature is between 425 and 860 °C.
