The material 1.4571 is the titanium version of the stainless steel 316. 1.4571 contains a small amount of titanium in the alloy composition. The titanium content is normally about 0.5 %. The titanium atoms strengthen the structure of 316 steel at temperatures above 800 °C. This prevents carbide precipitation at the grain boundaries and protects the material from corrosion attacks. 1.4571 is also known as 316Ti. It can be used at elevated temperatures for a longer period of time. Most of the mechanical properties of type 316 remain the same for 1.4571.
316L is suitable for welding applications with larger wall thicknesses, while 1.4571 is suitable for extensive applications in high temperature environments. If 1.4571 is to be welded, filler metals such as 1.4430, 1.4576 are recommended.
1.4571 is an austenitic stainless steel. Its properties are therefore non-magnetic. It can therefore be said that 1.4571 is a non-magnetic material.
Stainless steel 1.4571 has excellent properties, even better than AISI 316, when it comes to withstanding high temperatures over a long period of time. This material has similar mechanical properties to 316 stainless steel, but contains titanium which makes it more stable at high temperatures.
Stainless steel 1.4571 has the following advantages:
- high heat resistance
- Good corrosion resistance
- durability
- good weldability
Stainless steel 1.4571 is used in such areas as:
- Chemical industry
- construction industry
- vehicle construction
- Electricity industry
- Food industry
- Household appliances
