The material 1.4301 (304) is the most common and versatile stainless steel in the world. It has excellent formability and weldability. The austenitic structure of 304 enables deep drawing without intermediate annealing. It is used for various purposes in areas such as architecture and the automotive industry.
The corrosion resistance of stainless steel 1.4301 sheet is very good under normal atmospheric conditions. In hot, acidic environments, the material can form capillary cracks and blowholes in the internal structure, and if the temperature rises above 60 °C, stress cracks can occur.
Sheet metal strips made of stainless steel 1.4301 have good oxidation resistance in environments where the temperature is continuously 925 °C and occasionally rises to 870 °C. However, the corrosion resistance decreases when the temperature rises above 60 °C. However, the corrosion resistance decreases when the environment is aqueous and the temperature is between 425 and 860 °C.
