The material 1.4841 is an austenitic steel. Stainless steel sheet 1.4841 is chemically resistant up to approx. 1100 °C.. This steel is more heat resistant and very good weldable without preheating. It shows good mechanical properties and very good scale resistance in dry air.
Due to its high nickel content, it is already austenitic at room temperature and therefore does not acquire hardness. It is also a non-magnetising steel.
AISI 314 belongs to the class of austenitic stainless steels due to its high nickel content. It is described as a material with high temperature resistance because the phase structure does not change at high operating temperatures and room temperature and is suitable for such applications. A high nickel and chromium content also ensures high corrosion resistance.
Especially in high temperature applications, annealing and heat treatment furnaces, crucibles, heat exchangers, steam boilers, high temperature moulds, glass manufacture, porcelain burners, nozzles, glass furnaces, rings, grids, thermocouple protection tubes, pipes and cylindrical parts of the petrochemical industry, furnace covers, recuperators, fans, pipe clamps, in short almost all areas with high temperature and corrosion wear.
