The main alloying elements of vt16 are aluminium, molybdenum and vanadium; other impurities are iron, zirconium, oxygen, silicon, carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen.

The material vt16 can be easily formed both hot and cold. It is also easy to weld and the welded joint exhibits high ductility immediately after welding.
