AW-6082 material is an alloy with excellent corrosion resistance. This material has the highest strength of the 6000 alloys. Alloy 6082 is known as a construction alloy. In the form of round bars, 6082 is the most commonly used alloy.
As it is a relatively new alloy, the higher strength of the 6082 aluminium alloy has led to 6061 being used for many applications. The addition of a large amount of manganese controls the grain structure, which in turn results in a stronger alloy.
Aluminium alloy 6082 machines well and produces dense chips when chipbreakers are used.
Aluminium alloy 6082 welds very well, but the strength in the weld zone is lower. For welding with itself, wire of alloy 4043 is recommended. For welding aluminium alloy 6082 with 7005, wire of alloy 5356 should be used.
