The material 2.4360 has excellent resistance to neutral and alkaline salt solutions. Alloy 2.4360 is one of the few metallic materials that can be used in contact with fluorine, hydrofluoric acid, hydrogen fluoride or their derivatives. The material 2.4360 has been a standard material for many years. This material has high mechanical properties from sub-zero temperatures up to 550 °C and is free from chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking.
Monel® 400 has excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of environments. Typical applications for the material 2.4360 are propellers and pump shafts for seawater applications, industrial heat exchangers, brine heaters and evaporator bodies in seawater desalination plants, feed water and power plant equipment, uranium refining and isotope separation in nuclear fuel production plants, sulphuric and hydrofluoric acid alkylation plants, spray zone coating in offshore structures, coating of crude oil distillation columns.
