Austenitic stainless steel EN 1.4439 is a derived and improved austenitic version of steel grades 316 and 317 with a higher content of nickel, molybdenum and nitrogen, which significantly increases the product's resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in Cl environments.
1.4439 stainless steel is easily formed and fabricated through the full range of cold forming operations commonly applied to conventional austenitic stainless steels.
The material 1.4439 can be hot-forged in the range from 1700 to 2200 °C. For maximum corrosion resistance, hot forged parts should then be annealed to a minimum temperature of 1900°C and water quenched or otherwise rapidly cooled. EN 1.4439 is easily welded using a number of traditional welding methods.
Properties of the material 1.4439:
- excellent corrosion resistance
- good weldability
- good formability
- good mechanical properties
Use of the material 1.4439:
- Chemical and petrochemical industry
