AISI 316L is a cold-tough austenitic steel. This steel is corrosion resistant in aggressive environments and against most external influences. Steel 316L has the property of retaining its microstructure at rising and falling temperatures.
The low carbon content of 316L steel makes it an ideal material for welded constructions. The molybdenum content protects 316L steel from destruction by seawater and acetic acid vapours. An alloy of iron and chromium forms a protective layer on the surface of Aisi 316L steel that is resistant to mechanical and chemical influences.
Due to its properties, 1.4404 round steel is used in many areas: In architecture or the construction industry for facades, roofs, cladding of all kinds and other architectural elements, especially for outdoor use, in technical applications e.g. for the construction of special industrial plants in the chemical, food, paper and pulp industries, in mining, in the pharmaceutical industry and in the petrochemical industry for the construction of containers, tanks, pipes and much more.
