Superalloys have good creep and oxidation resistance and are formed in various shapes. They have the ability to perform at very high temperatures and severe mechanical stress. They are classified into three groups such as cobalt-based, nickel-based and iron-based alloys. Solid solution hardening, work hardening and precipitation hardening are carried out to increase their strength.
The Invar® 32-5 superalloy is a modified version of the Invar alloy. This alloy can be machined using all standard processes. Slow speeds and positive feeds are preferred for this alloy. Alloy 32-5 can be formed with all common processes. Super Invar® 32-5 can be welded using conventional techniques.
Super Invar® can be cold formed using conventional techniques as it has a high ductility. Invar® 32-5 superalloy is annealed at 844 °C and then quenched in water. This alloy is used in precision measuring instruments.
