Titanium grade 2 is a commercially pure titanium alloy with excellent biocompatibility. The material 3.7035 has good mechanical properties. The achievable yield strength is comparable with austenitic stainless steels. Small quantities of interstitially dissolved elements increase the corrosion resistance. Titanium Grade 2 is often used in a variety of applications where strength, ductility and low density are required and which may be surrounded by corrosive media. Titanium Grade 2 can be used in continuous operation at temperatures up to 425 °C, and for short periods up to 540 °C. Typical applications for titanium grade 2 are orthopaedic implants in medical technology or heat exchangers in energy technology. Other possible applications include aircraft construction and electrochemistry.
