The material 2.4858 has a complex structural composition dominated by nickel, chromium and iron. Grade 825 alloys are characterised by high resistance to corrosion phenomena in environments with high acid concentrations and localised corrosion, which cause damage to the grain and a reduction in ductility and strength.
Due to the high content of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and copper, the material is highly resistant to corrosion. Chromium provides resistance to oxidising agents, including nitrate and nitric acid. Molybdenum resists electrical crevice corrosion. Titanium prevents intergranular corrosion damage.
