Austenitic stainless steel EN 1.4439 is an improved austenitic version of steel grades 316 and 317 with a higher content of nickel, molybdenum and nitrogen, which significantly improves the product's resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in a Cl-containing environment.
The stainless steel 1.4439 can be easily formed and processed using all cold forming processes normally used for conventional austenitic stainless steels.
The material 1.4439 can be hot forged in the temperature range from 1700 to 2200 °C. In order to achieve maximum corrosion resistance, hot forged parts should then be annealed at a minimum temperature of 1900 °C and quenched with water or cooled quickly by other means. EN 1.4439 can be welded well using a number of conventional welding processes.
Properties of the material 1.4439:
- excellent corrosion resistance
- good weldability
- good formability
- Good mechanical properties
Application of the material 1.4439:
- Chemical and petrochemical industry
