Alloy A-286 is a high-strength alloy with an austenitic structure and excellent corrosion and heat resistance. It consists mainly of iron, nickel, chromium and molybdenum, supplemented by small amounts of titanium, vanadium and other elements. This alloy is characterised by high strength at high temperatures and is often used for applications that require high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and good weldability. Industries such as aerospace, automotive and high performance applications often benefit from the properties of Alloy A-286.

The typical composition of Alloy A-286 comprises around 24-27% chromium, 13-16% nickel, 1.5-2.5% molybdenum, 1-1.5% titanium, 0.1-0.3% vanadium and traces of carbon, manganese and silicon.

The production of Alloy A-286 involves various processes such as forging, casting and machining. It is readily weldable and can be optimised by heat treatment to improve certain properties.
