    If you need beryllium, buy it from the Auremo online shop at favourable prices.

    Beryllium is a low density metal used in a variety of applications in the nuclear, automotive, aerospace, defence, medical and electronics industries due to its exceptional strength, low weight compared to other metals, high heat absorption capacity and dimensional stability over a wide temperature range.

    Beryllium has been a prime candidate for the protection of PFCs in tokamaks for many years, as it has significant advantages over alternative materials such as carbon and tungsten. It has a low atomic number and is an excellent oxygen supplier. In addition, the interaction of beryllium with tritium is much weaker than that of carbon, which leads to a lower tritium content. Beryllium does not form stable hydrides above 300 °C, so that no inclusions are to be expected in the co-sputtered layers after sputtering. However, beryllium has a relatively high physical sputtering rate and a relatively low melting temperature and is therefore more susceptible to melting damage that can occur in a tokamak during thermal transients. In addition, the toxicity of beryllium requires special precautions when handling beryllium, both in manufacturing and in research work.

    Properties of beryllium::

    • high creep and shear strength
    • good corrosion resistance
    • high thermal conductivity

    Main application of beryllium:

    • Consumer electronics and telecommunications;
    • Industrial components and commercial aerospace;
    • defence and military;
