If you need gadolinium, buy it from the Auremo online shop at favourable prices.

Gadolinium is a soft, shiny, silvery metal and a member of the lanthanide group of the periodic table. It is the 41st most common element in the earth's crust and the 6th most common rare earth element. Gadolinium tarnishes very slowly in moist air and forms an oxide that flakes off the metal surface. When the oxide layer flakes off, fresh gadolinium is exposed to air and the oxidation process continues. This metal reacts slowly with water and dissolves in acids.

Due to its unique magnetic properties and its use in alloys, gadolinium has a number of other specialised applications. It is used in magnetic cooling to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions due to increased energy efficiency. Optical lenses containing gadolinium are used for magneto-optical systems.

    Properties of gadolinium:

    • very soft and easy to forge
    • Magnetic

    Main application of gadolinium:

    • Nuclear industry
