The material 2.4858 has a complex structural composition dominated by nickel, chromium and iron. Alloys of grade 825 are characterized by high resistance to corrosion phenomena in environments with high acid concentration and localized corrosion, which provokes grain damage and causes a reduction in ductility and strength.
Due to the high content of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and copper, the material is very resistant to corrosion. Chromium provides resistance to oxidizing agents including nitrate and nitric acid. Molybdenum resists electrical crevice corrosion. Titanium prevents intergranular corrosion damage.
