Titanium Grade 2 is a commercially pure titanium alloy with excellent biocompatibility. Material 3.7035 has good mechanical properties. The achievable yield strength is comparable to austenitic stainless steels. Small amounts of interstitially dissolved elements increase corrosion resistance. Titanium Grade 2 is frequently used in a wide range of applications where strength, ductility, and low density are required and where it may be surrounded by corrosive media. Titanium Grade 2 can be used continuously at temperatures up to 425 °C; short-term operation up to 540 °C is possible. Typical applications for Titanium Grade 2 are orthopedic implants in medical technology or heat exchangers in energy technology. Further uses can be found in aircraft construction and electrochemistry.
