    Tellurium is a rare occurring semi-metal from the fabric group Chalcogens. There are two modifications from tellurium: crystalline or metallic plate and amorphous plate. The amorphous modification of the plate represents a brown powder. It goes slowly into the crystalline plate under standard conditions. This is a semiconductor whose electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity behaves anisotropic (depending on direction). However, the electrical conductivity of the metal is very low, but it increases with temperature or exposure. Metallic plate is soft, very brittle and can be easily processed into powder.

    Because of the expensive production, tellurium is only slightly technically challenging. For example, plate serves as an alloy additive to steel, copper, aluminum and lead alloys. As an alloy component, it increases corrosion resistance and improves machinability. Plate is also used for coloring glass and ceramics, in semiconductor technology and in rewritable CD-RWs.

    The main areas of application of the plate are:

    • Metal industry (various alloys to increase corrosion resistance and improve machinability);
    • dyeing glass and ceramic;
    • Semiconductor technology.
    • optical drive production (CD-RWs, DVD-RWs);
    • Vulcanization of rubber.
    • Tellurium is characterized by:
    • Very high brittleness.
    • Low electrical conductivity.
    • anisotropy.
    • Easy to powder.
    • Comes in two modifications.
