AISI 316L is a cold-workable austenitic steel. This steel is corrosion-resistant in aggressive environments and against most external influences. Steel 316L has the property of maintaining its microstructure under both rising and falling temperatures.
The low carbon content of steel 316L makes it an ideal material for welded structures. The molybdenum content protects steel 316L from destruction by seawater and acetic acid vapor. An alloy of iron and chromium forms a protective layer on the surface of Aisi 316L steel that is resistant to mechanical and chemical influences.
Due to its properties, round bar 1.4404 is used in many areas: In architecture and the construction industry for facades, roofs, cladding of all kinds, and other architectural elements, especially for outdoor use; in technical applications, e.g. for building special industrial plants in the chemical, food, paper and pulp industries; in mining; in the pharmaceutical industry; and in petrochemicals for the construction of containers, tanks, pipes, and much more.
