This stainless steel contains a small amount of titanium (approx. 0.5%). The titanium gives the steel a stable structure at temperatures above 800°C. The material 1.4571 has excellent corrosion resistance. It is easily machinable but cannot be hardened by heat treatment. It is well-suited for marine environments.

The material 1.4571 has good corrosion resistance in most natural waters with low to medium concentrations of chlorides, salts, hydrochloric acid, and organic acids. 1.4571 is also resistant to intergranular corrosion after welding.

The material 1.4571 is weldable with and without filler metal according to the usual welding methods. If a welding filler metal is required, we recommend the material 1.4430. Heat treatment after welding is not required. The interpass temperature should not exceed 200°C. Discoloration should be removed mechanically or chemically.
