Zirconium is a non-toxic, soft, silver-white, lustrous metal that is easily flammable. The Auremo online shop supplies zirconium of high quality at affordable prices.

The metal is quickly passivated by a thin oxide layer and is therefore corrosion-resistant. Zirconium has a high melting point, is easily flammable in powder form, and burns with a flame similar to magnesium. Zirconium is non-toxic and occurs in the human body only in small quantities.

Pure zirconium is soft and can be forged and rolled well. It can also be processed by chip-removing machining, but please note that fine shavings and dust are easily flammable.

Since zirconium produces bright light without forming fog when burned, it is used to manufacture flash powder, fireworks, and signal lights. In nuclear technology, it is used because of its neutron permeability, in devices where absorption is to be avoided. Zirconium is often used as an alloying metal to improve thermal and mechanical properties. In stainless steel, it is used to prevent brittleness. Zirconium acts, in combination with sulfur, oxygen-, nitrogen-, and hydrogen-containing substances, as a deoxidizing and denitrifying agent.
