Chromium is extremely hard, corrosion-resistant, and wear-resistant. Its widespread use is due to the metal’s ability to impart these properties to the alloys in which it is contained.
Chromium is a transition metal that is widely used in industry for its strength, heat resistance, and corrosion resistance.
Chromium has excellent corrosion resistance. In the air, it forms a thin, very dense oxide layer that completely blocks access of air and water to the surface. The most interesting part, however, is that when chromium is added to different alloys, it gives them the same corrosion resistance.
First and foremost are, of course, the alloys of the substance with iron. Chromium, known for its high hardness, can transfer this property to steels.
