Refractory hafnium has a melting point of 2000 °C and a boiling point of 5400 °C. Its density is 13.28 g/cm3. Due to these physical properties, hafnium is often used in the manufacture of high-strength and heat-resistant materials in metallurgy, as well as an alloying addition to obtain new strong, thermally stable, and stainless materials.
