If you need high corrosion resistance for your metals, buy tantalum from the Auremo online shop at affordable prices. Tantalum is a hard, corrosion-resistant metal that can be processed well both by chip removal and without chips.
With a melting point of 3017 °C, tantalum is one of the refractory metals. It is hard, but ductile and grayish-white in color.
Tantalum can be processed with chip removal and without chips. Not only can it be deep drawn, but it can also be stamped, embossed, and bent. For machining, it can be stamped and cut. Soldering and welding are also possible, however only under shielding gas. For surface treatment, tantalum can be made matte by sandblasting and pickling, or made glossy by cleaning and coating. The coating can also serve functional purposes, such as corrosion and oxidation protection.
Tantalum is often used as an alloying metal for hard metals, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Pure tantalum is used in the form of clips, nails, wires, and wire mesh in surgery and laboratory technology. It is also used in the chemical industry, in galvanotechnology, and in pickling baths.
Properties of tantalum:
- very corrosion-resistant
- well-suited for welding
- high ductility
- increases hardness and brittleness
Main applications of tantalum:
- electrical engineering
- chemical industry
- medical technology
- mechanical engineering
