    Material 1.4886 has been developed for applications in high temperature industrial environments where good resistance to the combined effects of carburisation and thermal cycling is required. Alloy 330 is used for heat exchangers, furnace parts, muffles and retorts, annealing covers, food processing equipment, cryogenic structures.

    Alloy 330 is an austenitic heat and corrosion resistant alloy that provides a combination of strength and resistance to carburisation, oxidation and thermal shock. It is easily fabricated using standard stainless steel and nickel alloy processes. The alloy is used extensively in elevated temperature atmospheres where resistance to the combined effects of thermal shock and carburisation is required. Carburisation and oxidation resistance up to about 1150 °C are improved by the alloy's silicon content. Alloy 330 remains fully austenitic at all temperatures and is not subject to embrittlement due to sigma formation.
