Stainless steel rod 1.4828 is a standard grade for various high-temperature components and furnace construction. Compared to 1.4878 and 1.4713, the durability of stainless steel 1.4828 is significantly improved. Because of its good tensile strength at elevated temperatures, 1.4828 is ideal for applications where mechanical properties are important compared to other alloys.
The conditions that lead to optimum processing and usage properties for this steel are solution annealing at 1050 °C – 1150 °C with subsequent cooling in air or in water. During production and processing, the temperature range is 650 °C - 850 °C.
All common welding processes can be used with 1.4828. Preheating is not necessary. Post-weld treatment is also not necessary.
