The material 2.4665 is a highly heat-resistant, matrix-hardened nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum alloy with excellent oxidation resistance and excellent strength up to 1200 °C.

Rods made of material 2.4665 are used for combustors, afterburners and in aircraft and land-based gas turbine engines, nuclear technology. The material 2.4665 is easy to weld.

The recommended heat treatment is 1175°C followed by rapid air cooling or water annealing. The material 2.4665 is normally delivered heat-treated using this process. Other operations may exist for some applications.

W.Nr. 2.4665 can be cold formed with a slightly higher strength than austenitic stainless steels.

For hot forming, the alloy must be heated to an initial temperature of 1175 °C. It should not be operated at temperatures below 980 °C.

Alloy HX must be machined in the annealed or annealed condition with high speed steel tools and a large source of non-sulphur coolant. Tools and machinery should be as rigid as possible to minimize deflection and vibration.
