The material 1.4539 is a grade of austenitic steels, partially classified as nickel alloys. In the form of long and flat products, it is mainly used in the chemical, power and petrochemical industries and shows resistance to various concentrations at high temperatures of sulfuric, phosphoric, nitric and orthophosphoric acids.
Alloy 904L and its substitutes belong to the group of steels that, in the as-supplied and sensitized condition, are resistant to intergranular corrosion, which is associated with resistance to pitting and stress corrosion. In addition, it is characterized by increased crevice and pitting corrosion resistance and good weldability.
Thanks to the high content of nickel and chromium, steel significantly reduces the progression of corrosion in difficult environments, while the high density of chromium and molybdenum facilitates the passivation of metal surfaces and improves the mechanical properties of the products. In addition, the high concentration of copper contributes to increasing the steel's resistance to reducing gases, improves plasticity and resistance to acids.
