The material 2.4060 is characterized by very high resistance to oxidation and corrosion. 2.4060 is insensitive to corrosion types such as pitting and intergranular corrosion. The specific resistance of 2.4060 is below that of nickel 99.2. Nickel sheet 2.4060 has a high temperature coefficient.
Applications are diverse. Nickel sheets are mainly used for manufacturing connections for heating elements as well as for heating spirals in spark plugs. The material 2.4060 is magnetic up to about +350 °C. It has the high application temperature of approx. +700 °C in air.
The technical warm deformability of nickel is based on an invention by the company founder Theodor Fleitmann: By adding magnesium, the material becomes rollable and forgeable.
