The material CuZn39Pb3 is the reference material for machining with a machinability index of 100%. Therefore, it is the perfect material for applications requiring machining or chip removal to ensure maximum productivity and service life in high-speed repeat work. Additionally, it has excellent hot forming properties, making it ideal for parts requiring subsequent demanding processing. The material 2.0401 is also perfect for manufacturing parts that only require free machining operations.
Automatic brass has poor resistance to organic substances as well as neutral or alkaline compounds. In comparison, homogeneous α-brass has satisfactory corrosion resistance due to its microstructure. Stress corrosion cracking and dezincification, especially under conditions such as warm acidic waters and ammoniacal atmospheres, should be considered, especially if the material is not in a stress-free state.
