The material CuZn39Pb3 is the reference material for machining with a machinability index of 100%. Therefore, it is the perfect material for applications where machining or material-removing forming is required to ensure maximum productivity and tool life during repetitive work at high speed. In addition, it also has excellent hot deforming properties, making it ideal for parts that require subsequent demanding machining. The material 2.0401 is also perfectly suitable for manufacturing parts that only require free machining operations.
Automatic brass has poor resistance to organic substances as well as neutral or alkaline compounds. In comparison, homogeneous α-brass has satisfactory corrosion resistance due to its microstructure. Stress corrosion cracking and dezincification, especially under conditions such as warm, acidic waters and ammoniacal atmospheres, should be taken into account, particularly if the material is not in a stress-free condition.
Properties of material 2.0401:
- good corrosion resistance
- very good machinability
- good hot deformability and weldability
- very good corrosion resistance
Main application of material 2.0401:
- fittings
- turned parts
- electrical engineering
- mechanical engineering
